This project is fiscally sponsored by Creative Visions, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports creative activists, those that use the arts, and media to ignite social change.

Elman Peace is a Somali-led nonprofit organization that provides innovative, lifesaving support for former child soldiers and sexual assault victims of the country’s decades-long civil war.

The war in Somalia is a complex, protracted conflict driven by clan militias, Islamist extremist groups, and government forces all vying for control and influence over the country. Beginning with the overthrow of President Siad Barre in 1991, Somalia has experienced decades of instability, violence, and humanitarian crises. Attempts at establishing stable governance have largely failed.

The consequences of the war have been devastating, with widespread displacement, poverty, and humanitarian suffering affecting millions of Somalis. Efforts towards peace and reconciliation continue, but the path to stability remains elusive.

Against this backdrop, Elman Peace and Andy Maser are partnering to raise awareness, educate, and empower Somali youth affected by this devastating conflict.
